Attention East Fork of the French Broad fly fishers!!  Fishing on the East Fork?  Run out of tippet or need to re-up on flies or other supplies?  No need to call it a day!  Headwaters Outfitters is located just minutes from the delayed harvest stretch of the East Fork.  We are open and prepared to help out with any of your fly fishing needs.  After recent stocking the East Fork is full of hungry fish and we have all the tools you need to put ‘em in your net.  While fishing on the East Fork you will generally want to employ a sub-surface strategy.  Mayfly nymphs like hares ears or pheasant tails are always a good bet.  Caddis fly activity is increasing due to warmer temps and you will want to keep some caddis larva and pupa patterns in mind.  Eggs, San Juan worms, and woolly buggers are aces in the hole if “buggy” nymphs are not producing.  Keep your eyes and ears open for rising fish in the mid – late afternoon as a queue to switch it up to a dry fly.  Check out our hatch charts for more ideas on what to look for out on the water.  The East Fork is one of the premier delayed harvest stretches in Western North Carolina and it is conveniently located right out our back door.  Come on by the shop to see all we have to offer.
