Heritage Day Paddle on the French Broad

Experience the history of the French Broad and surrounding areas on this relaxing guided paddle!

Activity details

Our group will meet at 10am at Champion Park and plan to get on the water at 10:30am. Advanced reservations required, please pre-select what type of boat you would like to paddle (kayak, canoe, tandem kayak). This guided paddle down the French Broad will be a relaxing way to take in the beautiful scenery while learning about the rich history of the area. Please come dressed appropriately for the weather that day as we will take off rain or shine. Our shuttle will be waiting to pick us up at the take out and shuttle us back to Champion Park where you can enjoy the Heritage Day celebrations, vendors and community!

What’s included

Included in the price of your ticket is a boat of your choosing (canoe, kayak, or tandem kayak), paddle, PFD life jacket, and shuttle service. This trip also includes a guide who will lead your trip on the water and share the history of the area.

What’s not included

  • Dry bags are not included (we do have some available for purchase at our shop)

*Food and beverages are not included

*Gratuity for your guide and/or shuttle drivers if you feel so inclined 🙂

Itinerary

10am – 10:30am Check in with our River Host at Champion Park, make sure all waivers are signed

10:30am depart Champion Park and paddle down the French Broad River

12pm-12:30pm Take Out and be shuttled back to Champion Park

12:30pm Enjoy the Heritage Day festivities!

Check-in details

Please arrive around 10am to check in and prepare to get on the water at 10:30am. Make sure you have your waivers signed ahead of time.

What to bring

Dress appropriately for the weather that day (it’s always a good idea to dress in layers this time of year, with sun protection and rain protection). Everyone paddling must wear shoes and a PFD (we provide the PFD life jacket). Bring water and a snack if you are so inclined! Remember that items taken on the river can get wet or lost – come prepared with a dry bag for your essential items.

Special requirements

All participants must be able to swim with a life jacket on.
