Signs of Spring is a guided series of canoe trips offered selected Saturdays from April through June. Departing from Headwaters Outfitters at 10:00 a.m. (arrive by 9:30 a.m.), the four-hour outing blends nature observation with relaxed paddling to view spring wildflowers, migrating songbirds and river wildlife along the French Broad River. Trips include paddling gear, a river shuttle and guide service; snacks and drinks are available for purchase at the shop. Prior canoeing experience is helpful but not required.

Meet at Headwaters Outfitters Outdoor Shop and Taproom, 25 Parkway Road, Rosman NC 28772. Departures leave at 10:00 a.m.; guests must arrive by 9:30 a.m.

Special requirements

Reservations are required and secured with a 50% deposit. Prior canoeing experience is helpful but not necessary. To confirm a reservation or for more information, call Headwaters Outfitters at (828) 877-3106.

Disclaimers

Rates listed are per person. Special event trips run on selected Saturdays from April through June. Departure time is 10:00 a.m. with required arrival by 9:30 a.m. Two-person minimum applies for canoes and tandem kayaks where noted. Route and sightings are subject to change based on river conditions and wildlife activity.

Cancellations

As a small family owned and operated business, we require reservations with full payment at time of booking. Walk-ins and day of reservations are not guaranteed. River Trips depart rain or shine. If we have to cancel in case of Thunder/Lightening, Air/Water Temps, High Winds, or High Water Levels, then we will provide a full refund. For advanced notice cancellations we are willing to work with you the best we can. If you cancel 7 days before your trip, we will provide a full refund. If you cancel 1-6 days prior to trip, we will provide a 50% refund or a 100% credit to use for another time (no expiration). For day of reservation trips, if you are a NO CALL or NO SHOW, there is no refund.
