10am- 3pm North Carolina Bowhunters Measuring Day . Official NCBA ,Pope & Young and Boone & Crocket scorers available.
10am -10:45am Fish and Wildlife Conservation Council Annual report and Courthouse Wildlife Field update . Led by David Whitmire and Daniel McNeely
10:45am – 12:00am Making Long Bows. Mike Elliott will bring bows he has made and will describe the process it takes to make a long bow from a stave . Jim Jordan will demonstrate the ancient art of knapping arrowheads from rock .
12pm – Ruffed Grouse in Western North Carolina. Nick Biemiller, Southern Appalachian Forest Conservation Director, Ruffed Grouse Society & American Woodcock Society ,Charles Faires, NC Private Lands Wildlife Forester, Ruffed Grouse Society & American Woodcock Society and James Tomberlin ,biologist with the NCWRC will present on the status and future conservation efforts for ruffed grouse in WNC.
1 pm -2:30pm Alice Cohen with the US Forest Service will update on Forest Plan and then a panel discussion on the plan . Panel will consist of USFS , NCWRC, Ruffed Grouse Society , Back Country Hunters and Anglers , moderated by David Whitmire .
2:30pm – Bow fishing 101 . David Whitmire will present -How to get into this exciting sport and extend bow hunting year round .
